About the artist

Artist Statement

"...It is my wish that the viewer be drawn into my work, puzzle over it and be amazed by what they see...and come back for a second look." I usually have a task, something “new” I want to try. I use many different construction techniques, traditional and contemporary. So my works are often very different from each other. Each piece is a step in my growth as an artist, some thing I had to try, a process to learn from, never an end. Creating is something I have to do. It comes from an experience, a relationship, a dream and imagination.

Art Work Process

My artwork crosses a number of styles including graphic, representational, abstract, and expressionism. I hand dye much of the fabric myself using Shibori dyeing, discharge and over dyeing techniques. Most of the piecing and embroidery is done on a sewing machine although some hand sewing work is involved. I consider the quilting stitch a chance to add an additional layer of line and meaning.
